FAQ

  • How long will my project take?

Build time varies depending on complexity. Workhorse models typically take about three months. A Standard Simonetti Bass is generally completed within nine to twelve months. Custom instruments will take at least 12 months and can take up to 2 ½ years or more for more complex designs.

  • How much does a custom bass cost?

Custom instrument pricing varies. More exotic designs, specs, and parts cost more. Pricing is done on a project-by-project basis.

  • Where are Simonetti Basses made?

Simonetti Basses are made in a small shop in Spring, TX which is just north of Houston.

  • Do you do shop tours?

No. I work in my garage, so a shop tour would be incredibly underwhelming. I do allow visits to tryout, place a deposit, pick up a bass or for service work but it is strictly BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. Pop-in visits are not accepted, and surprise visitors will be turned away. During the course of the day machines are going and messes are made. This is not a safe time for an unscheduled visit.

  • Do you do service work on other brands of instruments?

It really depends on the instrument and service request. For the most part the answer is no, but I do make certain exceptions. Please keep in mind that I will charge my shop rate which is $125.00 per hour and the price will definitely be more than a store will typically charge. What you are paying for is my expertise and over 40 years of experience working on stringed instruments. I do not try to compete or price match with local repair shops.

  • Do you sell your pickups to put in other basses?

This depends on what you are looking for. Simonetti Pickups have a very specific sound and are not meant to be direct replacements for the major brands. I can wind pickups to fit in OEM shells or put them in wood covers. Pricing depends on the style of pickup you want and what kind of covers you want. In general pickups start at $100 per coil. Wood covers or OEM shell pricing will depend on the covers you chose.
